Electricity and Water Combined for a Cause: World Water Day Celebration
Carigara, Leyte - Electricity and water make for a deadly combination, a one-two punch so to speak, that can knock the lights out of one’s existence. But when Leyte III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO III) joined with Metro Carigara Water District (MCWD), it was anything but deadly. Rather, it turned into a potent celebration of life through caring and proper use or re-use of water.
With MCWD spearheading the celebration of the World Water Day on March 21, 2017, LEYECO III whole-heartedly joined the World Water Day caravan, together with other organizations, including schools, LGU’s personnel, PNP Carigara, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
This annual celebration is all about taking actions on water issues. This year’s theme, “Why Waste Water?” focused on reducing and reusing wastewater in recognition of the ever increasing wastewater from our homes, cites and other areas that going back to our mother earth without being treated or reused.

The celebration aimed to address such issue with an “Adopt-A-Tree” Water Stewardship Program (a Tree Planting and Hiking for Water Program). The MCWD prepared marcotted and grafted plants ready for planting. Those who joined the caravan volunteered and actively took part in the Adopt-A-Tree Program.
