LEYECO III the first Coop to have School Medal Program for the Youth

Tunga, Leyte- Youth are often awarded for their scholastic achievements but LEYECO III believes that they should also be praised and awarded when they demonstrate strong qualities of character and leadership. That’s why since 2015, LEYECO III has recognized such students with its School Award of Leadership Program wherein deserving students receive a Plaque and a Medal of Leadership Excellence.

 

Leyte III Electric Cooperative Incorporated is the first cooperative who created the School Award Program for the purpose of instilling character and helping our educators in creating and honing our future leaders. “We have to shape as early as now the youth to become leaders so that the future for them will be different from what we have right now. And appreciating their good qualities aside from the academic achievements is one way of encouraging the youth to possess such attribute”. General Manager Allan Laniba of Leyeco III uttered.

Duirng the last week of March.  the Coop has given a total of 29 awards to 29 secondary schools who held its Moving Up and Recognition Ceremony,  under its coverage area namely: Carigara School of Fisheries-Sogod Annex, Holy Cross College of Carigara, Don Mariano Salvacion Memorial National High School, Sta. Fe National High School, Pinamopoan National High School, Carigara National Vocational School, Carigara National High School, St. Joseph Academ  y, Barugo National High School, Sta. Cruz National High School, San Miguel National High School, Gregorio C. Catenza National High School, Astorga National High School, Agapito Amado Memorial National High School, Notre Dame of Jaro, Inc., Celestino De guzman Memorial National High School, Sta. Rosa National High School, Calingcaguing National High, Bienvinido Guillera Celebre National High, Granja-Kalinawan National High, Granja- Kalinawan National High Sta. Cruz & Hiagsam Annex, Jugaban National High, Holy Trinity College, Alang-alang Agro-Industrial High, Alangalang  National and Night High School, Asuncion S. Melgar National High and Juan Villablanca National High School.

 

The award is given to a deserving graduating student who is now entering the new K-12 Program. Candidates for the award are voted upon by the school’s faculty and the members of the graduating class.

The program has been very successful every year. Every year more students are receiving medals and plaque.  And every year LEYECO III would increase the number of recipients of the award to continue in shaping up future leaders for our country. “This School Award Program will be done annually by our Coop, so that the people will know that we are not only catalysts of electricity but we are also an advocate of a better change and a catalyst of development for the future”, GM Laniba remarked.
