LEYECO III GETS MISS FRECORLYMPICS 2015 CROWN
Baybay City, Leyte – The smallest electric coop in Region 8 exhibited big performance in the FRECORLYMPICS 2015 by winning the crown as the Miss Frecorlympics 2015 held in Baybay City, Province of Leyte.
The Miss LEYECO III bested other beautiful and talented candidates of the ten (10) electric cooperatives. “It is not the size that counts. It is the performance that matters,” GM Allan L. Laniba of LEYECO III said. Compared to other ECs in the region, LEYECO III and the Biliran Electric Coop (BILECO) are among the smallest coops in terms of load and classification.
The Miss LEYECO III Louiesa Kaye Granada Baretto seized also other major awards such as the Miss Eloquence, Best in Production Number, Best in Talent, Best in Festival Attire, Best in Gown and Best in Sports Wear.
Miss LEYECO III wore the Festival Attire of the Municipality of Alangalang a coverage area of LEYECO III which depicted the Linganay Festival. It beat other festival attire from Samar and Leyte. Miss Barretto shined more as she portrayed a fetus about to be aborted by her mother during the Talent Potion of the pageant. It touched the hearts not only the judges but all the people watching the beauty and brain contest.
The FRECORLYMPICS is a sports fest initiated and participated in by the 11 electric cooperatives in Region 8. It is conducted every two years.
In the previous FRECORLYMPICS held in the year 2013 at Catbalogan City, Province of Samar, Miss LEYECO III Carmen Garrido was the first runner-up.
LEYECO III SHINES IN 2015 FRECORLYMPICS
Baybay City, Leyte – “Size does not matter. It’s the bigness of the heart that counts,” this is the inspiration of the LEYECO III Team as they compete with the big electric cooperatives in Region VIII this FRECORLYMPICS 2015 held in Baybay City, Leyte.
Ever since when the FRECORLYMPICS was conceptualized by the 11 electric cooperatives in Samar and Leyte islands, Leyte III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO III) is always at the tail of the medal standing of the sports competition. However, in the recent FRECORLYMPICS, this small coop surprised other delegates of the sports festival as it compete up to the final rounds of many games.
LEYECO III Volleyball Team – Women emerged as the champion by beating the defending champion Samar III Electric Cooperative. It was a very exciting game where the cheerers were bringing drums and cymbals to inspire their players.
LEYECO III bested other electric coops as it came out as champion in Chess, Billiard and Table Tennis while grabbing the first runner up in the track and field competition. The chess player was Cesar N. Estolano, Jr, Billiard – Angelito Macapus and Table Tennis – Manuel Ellaso, Jr.
In the over-all result, the smallest coop raised its flag of triumph as the second runner-up outsmarting other big electric cooperatives in the region.
The FRECORLYMPICS is held every two years. It is initiated and participated in by 11 electric cooperatives in Region 8. LEYECO III and the Biliran Electric Coop (BILECO) are among the small electric coop in the region in terms of load and classification by the National Electrification Administration.
